One named person will reply, and it will be someone who can answer technical questions rather than route them. If what you need is a straight answer about whether this fits, say so and you will get one — including when the answer is no.
01 — The agenda
Four questions, before anyone demonstrates anything.
A demonstration answers “what can it do”, which is rarely the question. These are asked first because the answers decide whether there is a project at all.
- What is forcing the date?
- An audit, a funder's reporting deadline, a buyer requirement, the start of a season. If nothing has a date attached, a change of system is indefinitely postponable and usually is.
- What do you already run?
- Spreadsheets are a legitimate answer and often a well-run one. What matters is where the current process breaks under scale or scrutiny, not what it is called.
- Does the spine already exist?
- Advance, deliver, net, settle. If that is already how the operation works, this is a change of software. If it is not, it is a change of operating model, and we will say so rather than sell around it.
- What would we measure?
- Agreed before a pilot starts, not after. Without a baseline nobody can say at the end whether it helped, which makes the pilot a cost with no verdict.
